I'm hoping you can help me out. As a group we have decided to get our PA28-140 resprayed, although it's not quite as simple as that. A few years ago we had the wings done, so we don't need them done again. We also don't need the tailplane re-done either as that was done with the wings. So all we need resprayed is the fuselage and fin.

Do any of you know (and can recommend) someone who would be prepared to such a job, and do you have an idea of price?

We're based at Elstree by the way.

We had an Arrow (G-BNVT) painted about 5 years ago and it is a fantastic job. Its not cheap but they know what they are doing. Cheap usually means, chat about the problems after the respray. Check out their Web site.

Another vote for Mick Allen. He is not the cheapest but he is the best.

Just remember buy cheap, buy twice !

I approached Mick Allen a few years ago when considering a PA28 "project". While professional and knowledgeable, he scoffed at my plans and questions, making me understand they have so much business, that any non-standard cases slow them down and are unwelcome.

This speaks volumes about their reputation - so much work in spite of a high price - but you may want to be cautious with your "piecemeal" requirement. Just an opinion, will be glad to be proved wrong.

I would not say that Mick Allen's prices are high when the quality of the work is considered, if all you are looking for is a quick blow over to fool the inexperienced when selling the aircraft I could point you at a number of Cowboys who can meet that requirement and once the aircraft has moved on the new owners will soon see their aircraft appearance deteriorate.

However if you want the paint to last for years Mick is your man.

Try Eastern Air at Sturgate.
They have been around for a long time.

Ask for Dave Whatham.

It seems Mick isn't available until the middle of next year. He must be good!

Hi guys,

Pop in to the Hangar and see me I can pass you on to someone in Bournemouth who will probably just do the bits you need and also have someone else in mind too who may be able to help who works at the field but this would need to be okay'd first.
