Books for PPL exams?

I bought this (http://www.pooleys.com/prod_detail.cfm?product_id=3&PageNum_rs_product=1&product_category_id=0&product_sub_category_id=6) book to prepare for my PPL exams, thinking it was the first of a series that correlated one to one with the exams (given it was numbered and EASA syllabus compliant).

However, I can see now that I'll have 9 exams but there are only 7 books. Obviously some of the books correlate one to one with the exams but others don't. Is there another set of books I should buy that correlate perfectly?

I think this (http://www.pprune.org/private-flying/576607-pooley-s-air-pilot-manuals-jar-easa-versions.html) chap had a similar question, although it doesn't quite answer the question. I want to know what books correlate perfectly to the exams I will take, so that I can revise purely for each topic as I come to sit the exam. Is that possible?

I've put ticks below where I think there is a correlation. Other areas probably link but I can't be sure (e.g. 7 radio telephony probably links to 9 communications?). Thanks! :)

Where I learned the club ran ground schools for the exams and the instructors recommended any necessary additional literature. I found it really good to talk over the bits I had difficulty understanding - it was well worth the small fee and I passed all the exams first time.

Thanks. I'll be taking the exams at the school where I'm learning and they run ground school so they will probably be able to answer this for me. I'm just trying to get prepared before my first lesson so thought I'd ask here :)

Pooleys APM Vol.1 Flying Training, is mostly about how to practically fly the aeroplane and the chapter numbers correlate to the exercises in the PPL syllabus.

Volumes 2, 3, 4, 6 & 7 cover what you need to know for the theoretical knowledge exams. Although, as you've noticed, it's not a nice simple one book per subject relationship.
Vol.2 is for the aviation law, operational procedures and meteorology exams.
Vol.3 is for the navigation exam.
Vol.4 is for the aeroplane general, principles of flight and flight performance and planning exams.
Vol.5 is really for the night rating and IMC rating (also known as an instrument rating (restricted)).
Vol.6 is for the human performance and limitations exam.
Vol.7 is for the communications exam.

There is some cross over between subjects such as navigation and flight performance & planning.
As well as the books, you will need some practice exams/revision guides, there are available as books or online, such as these:

As stated in the post above me, some of the books correlate to multiple exams. The school I work for uses the AFE books and in book 2 for example, it covers Air Law, Operations and Communications, so I would imagine this is also the case for the Pooleys books.

I think you'll also want the EASA Exam PPL app to re-enforce the learning and most importantly check that you understand what was written in the book applied to the type of questions asked in the actual exams. (also gives you a bit of a head start to know the format of the questions if not the questions actually used!)

I can recommend EASA PPL Success - an app available on iOS devices (and possibly others) and it costs £10 on the App Store. It has practice exams in all subjects and covers the entire question bank. I found it very useful to test myself first to find out what I knew then filled in the blanks with the Poolys books.
