That's because airbridges weren't designed to be light in order to fly, no matter how hard the dispatchers try when they drive 'em!! :E

Seriously though an astonishing amount of money is lost due to such minor ground collisions.

Surely time the airlines acted on this? JFK alone seems to report such an event every month or so... Airbus is working on a certified bumper retrofit as we speak...:E
