Noticed on the new arrivals into LGW there is a FL70 constraint at TIMBA Which wasn't there with the TIMBA 3B (Bexil you will be missed...). I always wondered why we were sometimes asked by ATC to expedite descent if we're on 08R and coming in towards MAY (after TIMBA) - is this to keep below Heathrow departures? Was thinking it could have been due to LGW departures off 08R to south but that logic wouldn't apply due to the 6000 feet stop.

Not sure why the FL70 constraint at TIMBA was not published in the 3B STAR. In general aircraft should be able to achieve FL70 by the clearance limit.

Gatwick could be asking you to expedite descent before turning you downwind for 08R because of traffic approaching HOLLY or holding at WILLO. The constraint of 5000'or below to avoid the Heathrow MID SID applies further west near Billingshurst.
