I flew EDI-LTN yesterday on an EZY flight that had been delayed for a couple of hours because they had pinched the incoming aircraft to operate another departure and we had to wait for the arrival of a replacement that had earlier gone tech.
When we were finally on board and seated we had an announcement from a (presumably senior) 5th cabin crew member (she didn't get involved in the in-flight service) which started with an apology for the delay, carried on with a request to "be nice to the crew", who had also been "sitting for hours twiddling their thumbs", and ending with a somewhat unsubtle comment about "what a royal pain it would be" if we had to return to the gate with any passengers who were "unable to contain their frustration".
Needless to say, we were all then as quiet as mice. :O
