When a Direct To function has to be performed on a A320, who does the relevant action on the MCDU, the PF or PNF ?

PF, but depending on the stage of flight and workload the PF may request the PM to action this request.

According to airbus SOP MCDU generally is handled by PM but two actions may be done by PF if required. That is direct to and activate approach.

MCDU generally operated by PM? Then what does the PF actually do while on autopilot?? Seems a strange SOP.

The answer varies with some airline SOP's but in general, pilot flying would input a direct to.

FMGS work is done by PM. However the Airbus SOP permits two exceptions i.e. Direct to and Activate approach may be done by PF.

What does your company SOP's permit? Are you above or below 10000 feet?

He'd have to BE with a company first.
