Jeppesen Professional Pilot Logbook

Dears,

I'm a brazilian first officer, and I just bought a Jeppesen Professional Pilot Logbook; but there are some fields that I'm not familiar with. Could you please explain me the meaning of the following fields:

Conditions of Flight:
APP NO.
APP Type

Type of Piloting Time
Dual Received

[Intruder]

Conditions of Flight: IFR or VFR
APP NO. Number of approaches
APP Type Type of approach (ILS, VOR, RNAV...)

Type of Piloting Time PIC, SIC...
Dual Received Flight time under training with an Instructor aboard.

I have some other questions regarding the logbook, could you please help me?

1. Imagine my first solo flight, during my Private Pilot Course.
Can I log it as SOLO and PIC? Or is it only Solo? Or PIC?

2. During the Private Pilot, Commercial Pilot, IFR... and so on... should I consider all flight hours as "Dual Received", onde there is someone (the instructor) teaching me.

3. Can I log something like PIC and DUAL RECEIVED?

4. Somethimes I´m flying alone my own plane, shoud I log it as SOLO and PIC?

5. About the IFR Simulator, how do you log these hours? All together, one-by-one? Do yo sum it in your total flight hours? Or not?

6. About my Type Rating, should I sum the simulator hours in my total flight hours?

Both.

"Dual received" is when there is an Instructor in the airplane, generally when you are receiving required dual instruction for a certificate or rating. Periodic or recurrent training, checkout in another airplane/type, periodic Flight Reviews and similar training situations also apply.


3. Can I log something like PIC and DUAL RECEIVED?

Sometimes; this is common in cases like periodic Flight Reviews and Recurrent Training. It does NOT apply to Dual training toward the Private Certificate. First, you have to have at least Private (or Light Sport, if applicable) certificate, and Instrument Rating if flying IFR, and be current and qualified in the airplane you are flying. Second, you have to have an understanding with the Instructor that you are the PIC.

4. Somethimes I´m flying alone my own plane, shoud I log it as SOLO and PIC?

Yes.


5. About the IFR Simulator, how do you log these hours? All together, one-by-one? Do yo sum it in your total flight hours? Or not?

I keep simulator time separate. There are cases where simulator time can replace flight time for currency or qualifications, but you also must be able to track actual flight time.


6. About my Type Rating, should I sum the simulator hours in my total flight hours?

Again, keep simulator time separate. Total it elsewhere, when asked for total time.

What logbook do I choose the simple jeppesen logbook (some says student logbook) or the professional one? I mean, the simple logbook is smaller but do not have section landing (day/night). How can a log day and night landings in that logbook? It also does not have the section insert the year in page. Just my signature in each page to prove flight hours flown?
