On 1 apr15 It is no longer certified and shall be removed from the A/C not later than 31March15

or we can use it as usual until 30Apr15

Remove by APR15

It means exactly what it says.
On the 1st of April 2015 the item is no longer certified. Therefore in order to avoid inadvertent use of an uncertified item -it must be removed by the 31st of March 2015!

As March comes before April - NO YOU CANNOT USE IT NORMALLY OR OTHERWISE, AS OF 10 DAYS AGO!

@PT6Driver: I think we might be misunderstanding his question?

@toung:

Does the marking ONLY say "APR15" with no other notation?

In that case, the second scenario is correct: you can use it until April 30, 2015.

The word "by" surely means before the start of April? If the second scenario then surely "before end" would be in place of "by"?

I don't think so. That would be written "Remove before APR15" instead.

Unlike before, the word by includes the stated time period.

(By means "on or before".)

"Turn in your homework by tomorrow" <-- includes "tomorrow"

"Oil prices will rebound by this summer" <-- includes "this summer"

So "Remove by APR15" <-- includes "APR15"

Dear all

Thank you for your participation.

Just only " Remove by Apr15 "

for this PBE ( Protective breathing equipment )

My 1 st opinion was it will be removed by "the coming of Apr15"

So I think it cannot be used after 31march15

That why i wanna looking for more info.

A clue may be in the manufacture, installation, or certification date, IF you have no other info. If in March, use to the end of March; if April, use to the end of April. Long-life components with a calendar expiration usually have a service life expressed in even years...

A rated useful life of the PBE is 5 years or 10** years dependant upon the unit’s construction
