NAV Canada terminal/center controllers have the best radio language, communication skills and crisp voices I've encountered. They are often much easier to understand than the controllers here in the U.S.

Are NAV Canada controllers hired based on how they speak? Or, are they taught how to speak while they are in training as a new hire?

I'm curious because they almost all sound the same, their ability to communicate clearly seems almost universal within the terminal/center communication system in Canada.

More emphasis in training now on using correct phraseology probably has something to do with it.
There is nothing in place when hiring determining how you should speak...you just get trained to use ATC terminology.

Interesting that you find it easier to understand given the mixture of French, British, German, Kiwi and US controllers we have here alone in YYZ.
