Hi,

Just trying to gauge whether there is any serious interest from anybody in forming a syndicate around an LAA Permit Jodel DR1050 in the Yorkshire area.

Likely airfields Bagby, Breighton or Full Sutton based?

Would utilise an on-line Booking System?

Looking at min 6 shares at a cost of circa £3.5k to £4k each?

Would want to have a fixed monthly and wet rate flying charge that not only covers costs but allows an engine fund to be built up.

I have three interested parties so far (myself included). One is engineering minded, although I am not!

Not interested in hour builders.

I just bought a DR1051. I know of two Mascarets for sale, plus a possible third.

Kev..... The D117 at Full Sutton is now sold. It will be staying, so space is very limited if you hope to base a 1050 there.

Cheers.....

To be honest, struggling to get more than three or four (inc myself) interested parties in order to set up a syndicate around a Jodel, ideally a 1050/1051 but still considering 117/120s.

I need at least 6 people in total based on my personal budget.

May have to admit defeat!

The best thing would be if an existing Yorkshire syndicate aircraft is under utilised and they want to expand or someone leaves one?

1050's are normally around £23k, 120 / 117's are £14k. Why do you need the same number of people for each?

(I have helped people buy both relatively recently)

My budget is £3k to £3.5k (max) for a share.
Willing to pay circa £50 a month to cover fixed costs.
So, I would guess I would need six people to keep the monthly costs down.

There is currently a Jodel DR1050 for sale in Ireland (looks nice - on Irish register though ex G reg) up for £23k, but it has been up for sale since July 2014 and still has not sold. I personally thought (looking back at previous 1050 for sale ads) that £17k to £20k was more realistic... But I must admit I'm no expert. I notice another one has gone up for sale recently in the UK.

I am in an eight person motor glider syndicate at the moment, and even with 8 people the aircraft is under utilised.

I was therefore comfortable around 6 persons.

The insurance on a 1050 will be about £500 more a year, the permit is more, at our strip it will cost more to hanger and the bits can cost more too. Don't get me wrong, the 1050 is a great aircraft and I love flying them, but it is not as cost effective as the 117/120 unless you need the extra seat(s).

Not interested in hour builders.

One might be a good idea. Many people fly much less than they think they will when they buy. I've been in a 6 member Jodel DR1050 syndicate for over 25 years. In 2011 to 2014 it flew 485.4 hours. I flew 297.2 of that. In 2014, it flew 104.8 hours. I flew 71.8 of those. We charge £60 per hour wet, on mogas, and make a good profit towards engine fund etc. £50 per month, hangarage and insurance. Landing fees extra. With less hours flown, we'd make a loss. I'm not an hour builder - over 1900 solo and far too old for anything commercial.
Insurance will depend on experience and accident record of the 6 members.
If an aircraft has been for sale for a while, go look at it, check everything carefully, then try an offer. Aircraft are costly to keep - and the owner may decide to cut his loss on the price asked.

Are you still actively looking to setup a Jodel group. I have just moved to York and looking to join a syndicate preferably a Jodel.

This one's been well cared for, and there's at least one Bagby based pilot who'd be interested in a share.

I'm interested in a share in something along these lines too. I'm still working on my ppl at the moment but I'm considering a share after I've finished and hired for a while. I'm also based at Sherburn.

I'm still interested and actively looking for a group to join. Their are a few D120 around at the mo with varying numbers of hours on the engine. I can get to Sherburn quite easily if you are meeting up.

RapidTim we missed out on a Jodel at Sherburn but it wasn't a 1050. If you are still interested in forming a syndicate, send me a message and we can meet up and discuss.

Hi,
Sorry for the delay. This has been stuck in my spam filter. I'm around tomorrow afternoon from about 15.00 if that's any good otherwise next Sat/Sun?
