Hi all,

apologies if this has been asked before, But I was wondering why some operators use cloud ceiling/visibility at/above MDA (non precision appr) for Weather minima for Destination, and others use MDH?

and the same for Weather minima for Alternates: Some operators use (prec/non prec) Cloud ceiling/Visibility at/above DA/MDA and others use DH/MDH?

Just wondering why this is not a standard setting, or does it depend on the Helicopter equipment?

Regards.
Bob

Any insight on the above would be appreciated.

Hi Bob
Search for eu regulation 965/2012. Once you've found that, go to CAT.OP.MPA.186 and then wake yourself up at regular intervals.

...and others use MDH?

Last time I checked, cloud base/ceiling was height above the airfield and not above sea level, so MDH/DH are the logical limits to refer to.

1. You decide suitably of airfield by looking at TAF/METAR and compare with MDH
2. You typically (depending on company) fly the approach down to the MDA with QNH set.

That's it, isn't it.

Ooops, sorry - I'll read the question properly next time.
