Emirates first 777 has left dxb for the last time after being painted white.
I hear it is going to be scrapped.
When I flew it a few months ago it had over 70k hours.

A6-EME is withdrawn from service as well for phase out.
On the A345 front....A6-ERG left last week and ERH is also withdrawn from service for phase out!
I am starting to feel old. An aircraft I have flown regularly is on it's way to being scrapped.
Gone to other airlines or scrap heap??

Caught up with an engineer today, he said that the 777's are going through a thorough C check, and being brought to a top standard in order to be sold.
Great opportunity for a charter outfit.

EMD was the first 777 I ever saw in the flesh- it was the first RR powered 777 and it was in Alice Springs, still owned by Boeing, doing Hot-High testing when I rocked up in a 737.
The Boeing guys showed us over it (My FO that day is now ALSO an EK 777 Captain!!) and I went home brimming with how much I'd like to fly a triple.
It's a nice touch that I didn't just get to fly 777s, I actually flew THAT one!

Also first saw EMD in the Alice for the hot and high tests. Parked my Twotter next to it and the Boeing crew came over to look at my aircraft-very friendly group. Gave us a guided tour of EMD in return. She sure looked different inside than it does now with the test stations and minimal cabin fitting. Never imagined then that I would end up flying her around from both seats. Hope she goes to a good home :ok:

I had a dream that EMD took off to the scrapyard with a few of our managers...

It flew direct to Boston, prob the longest flight since it left Seattle for DXB.
Then flew down to Tupelo, Missiisipi for parting out.
A market 777's not worth much, limited range. Probably due a heavy D check, not worth doing. Am guessing EME and EMF will follow. The 200ERs will probably find other operators when they go, as they have good range/flexibility.
The -300s who knows.
