I saw this METAR the other day but none of us could decode it even with the AERAD supplement. Any ideas?!
"RMK TCU OHD MOV SW P/R RI++"
Remark: Towering Cumulus overhead, moving southwest, but then what?!
Airport was Okinawa while a typhoon was in the vicinity.

Could be missing another "R". Then it's pressure rising rapidly. Think the RI is rainfall intensity.

GEN 1.7 of the Japanese AIP states 'Local routine and special reports are issued in a format similar to that of METAR and SPECI.' Unfortunately, the code of this similar format doesn't seem to be published in the very same AIP.
A Google search for "RI++" metar yields this site (http://www.omnipot.jp/omnipot/aviation/wxterms.html), which tells me MCDU2 is spot on.
