Firstly, I apologise for asking such a stupid question, but as a new PPL, (and one who wishes to progress into instructing), I would be grateful if somebody could clarify the following:-

When people state they have 'x' amount of flying hours, are they refering to ALL hours accrued, (ie. including PPL tuition hours), or just the hours they accumulate AFTER passing the PPL?

For example, if somebody completed the PPL in 60 hours, then chalked up another 20 hours P1, would their TOTAL hours be 20, or 80?

I ask this, because I obviously need to accumulate the necessary hours before being able to take the FI course, so it is important to me to know exactly WHAT I am able to count towards this.

Again, sorry if I appear ignorant of the facts, but I just don't know them!!

bamboo for most purposes, it will be the total hours, so will include all PuT, P1, & P1S

Its only when you need specific hours for any purpose, that you have to see how the total is made up. eg I believe that you now need 70 hrs P1, before you can apply for a multi-engine rating.
