Hi,

Has anyone out there operated a G Reg aircraft in Switzerland

if so would appreciate some advice. I'm currently living and working full time near Zurich, I have a chance to purchase an RV6 in UK and would like to bring over to Switzerland but not sure of the requirements (import costs plus regulations, inspections etc) I have asked a few people here but to date only received hazy answers.

I have heard in the past that it's possible to remain under G Reg provided that the ac is of a type previously registered in Switzerland and that is available for routine inspections by LAA in UK.

If anyone can direct me to a reference source for information or has actually brought across a homebuilt and operated here under G Reg I would be keen to hear their experience.

Switzerland are signed up to the ECAC agreement for permit aircraft, though this strictly only applies to short term visits.
The LAA tech leaflet (http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/engineering/TechnicalLeaflets/Operating%20An%20Aircraft/TL%202.08%20Travelling%20abroad%20in%20a%20Permit%20Aircraft .pdf) gives contact details for the FOCA officer dealing with those matters.

If the relocation is permanent, then they will likely require you to register it HB and get flight approval locally.

If you can stay on the G- then it's a good idea not to let the PtF lapse as the LAA can't authorise permit test flights outside the UK for a lapsed permit aircraft.
