Just watched the above mentioned programme on BBC2 and had to post to say wow!
Eric "winkle" Brown, what a life, not just as a pilot but also in general.
If you missed it watch on catch up or something, absolutely enthralling.

Cheers now

I watched it again. The title is a misnomer, the world's greatest pilot surely?

The book "Wings on my sleeve" by the man himself is absolutely riveting. I'm sure anyone who enjoyed the program would enjoy it. I'm not a book salesman BTW.

Smudge:ok:

A quite remarkable man. Born at the right time and in the right place but nontheless he took it by the horns and made the most of it. Hats off.

Not a salesman either, but there is a DVD titled "A Pilot's Story" detailing his exploits. Google title for availability.
