Hi everybody

As a passenger, loving A320, I usually see as a common procedure setting flap2 just before GS. In that moment do you select speed? 170 to 5 miles then gear down or 160 to 4?

Cheers

In the London area they tend to give those speeds restrictions to you anyway when being vectored. 160 to 4 is common, and at my company this is flown Flaps 2, starting the gear down process between 5 and 4nm. Of course if there is a strong tailwind on the approach, sod ATC, and start the configuring earlier.

Sk,

Agree, but I don't sod ATC, I do mention it!

Hi guys. When do you decide to put gear down? Do you decide looking to the miles from threesold or do you look at the altitude?

We look at everything, and make that decision when it's time to do so.

Hope that helps.

When do you decide to put gear down?

About the time the f/o starts squirming in his seat ;)

Hi guys. When do you decide to put gear down?

Whenever we like to, as it is the most effective form of speedbrake. However, latest at 2000ft AGL, that one is a company limitation.

2000ft AGL and 180 knots, usually?

Withou restrictions when selecting flap1 do you let reduce speed to Sspeed or do you select a higher speed such as 195?
