Where do pilots end up who have lost their licence? What other careers do they go into? Or do they end up on a sunny beach using their loss of licence insurance money with a bird on each arm?

At home in bed asleep at night. During the day sitting in a bigger office talking to more than one person about matters other than roster complaints.

Going back over many years the following cases may have a lesson to be learnt

* Insurance & Financial Planning - did okay but only just.
* Stock Broking firm - started at the bottom & did very well eventually.
* Put Loss of Licence payout into prestige motor dealership -
Lost the lot
* Put payout into a farm- worked hard for many years -eventually gave up & sold out at a loss.
* Lecturer at Polytech - made ends meet & did enjoy the job
* Bought an up market residential property in a prestige suburb and lived comfortably from the income, leasing property to a major corporation for executives on transfer.
* Invested in a small commercial property & pyramided holdings as properties appreciated in value. Now after 18 years is worth
about US$ 5 mill. not counting a 50 square residence on fourty acres, drives a Daimler Jag. Had a few sleepless nights on the way, though.
It seems the worst thing one can do is go into business or farming
Real estate seems to be safest option

Some become open minded enough to look at other entrepreneurial activities and some of those end up making a lot more money than they did in aviation!

You only need to lose your job to be cornered.
