Haven't heard anything yet either, although I have absolutely no signal in work.

No voicemails left either, but my friend got his call a few mins ago so they must be going through them.

Nice they let us pick a day!

I wonder will they knock off at 5 or 6 today considering they will be busy due to the cabin crew recruitment.

I've had my phone in the window at home here nearly all day hoping for the call. Mainly just so I can arrange it with work and sort out somewhere to stay.

It really is hard to believe that another few weeks we could be signing our training contracts. So very exciting and I'm sure we all have good changes.

Has anybody sat a physcometric assessment before?

wiblywoblywonder
4th Nov 2014, 20:22
I have been looking into a bit of prep online as most of you are surely doing as I text ;) Anyway, it says there's 3 types of psychometric assessment: Ability (Already completed via Maths / Physics / Verbal aptitude tests), Learning (Already completed via aptitude tests such as joystick etc) and Personality (not yet completed).

So just Personality left it looks like. From what I have read, it commonly is an un-timed personality questionnaire to assess work habits and general behaviors.

However, I presume there is a psychometric interview also?? If so, has anybody an idea of what is involved or what a person should expect? Can we prepare for this?

Steveooo516
4th Nov 2014, 21:07
Guess it could be:

A) a computer based questionnaire to find out if we're secret axe murderers
or
B) an interview with a Psychologist to find out if we're secret axe murderers

Either way unless you're a secret axe murderer I don't think it's going to be something to sweat about :ok:

The interview should give them a pretty good idea of our personality I'd have thought, as always I'm just going to wait and see what is in the e-mail see if that reveals anything, and work towards the interview in the meantime!

AerLingus Expands North America Service in S15 | Airline Route (http://airlineroute.net/2014/11/05/ei-s15/)

Might need some help with all that ;)

Also got the call this morning.

Friday 14th.

PPRuNeUser0207
5th Nov 2014, 11:35
@Speed_Alive_V1 The long haul is increasing becoming the most lucrative area for AL and I find it very exciting that one day we may be a part of that expansion.

Anybody here still waiting on a date/time?

PPRuNeUser0207
5th Nov 2014, 11:35
What time this morning @Speed_Alive_V1?

Speed_Alive_V1
5th Nov 2014, 11:53
Yes, would be exciting. Could be crossing the pond in a shiny new A350 in a few years.

I got the call about 10am, Monday is full up FYI so pick Tuesday to Friday.

Steveooo516
5th Nov 2014, 11:57
Any word on when confirmation e-mails may start coming through?

PPRuNeUser0207
5th Nov 2014, 11:57
I'm in Tuesday :ok:

Just got a call from Nicola and she was super friendly I have to say! Really looking forward to getting up to Shamrock House!:)

Speed_Alive_V1
5th Nov 2014, 13:03
No email yet but she said a confirmation email would be sent later today.

Yes, Nicola was lovely, very friendly!
I wonder will they let us park in the staff parking in front of Shamrock house :p

Someone on another forum mentioned that this is going to be an MPL course instead of the traditional fATPL.

Are there any real advantages/disadvantages to this, if it were the case?

PPRuNeUser0207
5th Nov 2014, 14:19
I was going to drive in but my Aunt & Uncle in law are putting me up for the night and dropping me down. It will just save me driving up that morning and having to worry about parking. However I'm sure they will explain everything in the email we are all waiting on :ok:

The day I was in DCU we had a mentor for the guys/gals in FTE come and talk to us. Apparently they were looking at doing the MPL course but couldn't give us a yes or no. I believe he said "we are considering doing the MPL course but nothing is decided." Somebody actually caught him on the hop with the question I didn't think he was expecting it.

I myself don't really know how to feel about the advantages/disadvantages but it is somewhat gaining popularity the MPL and maybe it is the way to go?

As regards the physcometric assessment it probably is just AL doing a personality assessment. We have completed all aspects with the training requirements and it is common practise for airlines to do personality assessments.

In other news some exciting stuff with SFO going daily and Washington service starting!

Speed_Alive_V1
6th Nov 2014, 15:58
Email sent out now, whole heap of things to fill out!

Including an airside pass application, how exciting! :ok:

wiblywoblywonder
6th Nov 2014, 19:47
You are right, there's lots of info to fill out! A couple of things though, first where the references are required to have known the person for 5 years or more is less than ideal.

Also, do we have to book an Ishihara colour blindness test in such short notice before next week? I got a Class 1 Medical but it has expired by now from about 4 yrs ago. Wonder would they accept that?

Speed_Alive_V1
6th Nov 2014, 23:27
My understanding of it that its only the character reference that 5 year rule is applicable to, not an employer reference, should you decide to use one.

I rang Specsavers, they will do it for €15 and you can just drop in anytime.
Presumably same-ish in UK opticians.

PPRuNeUser0207
8th Nov 2014, 12:48
Completed the eye test and just filling out everything else required, going to be a long evening..

PPRuNeUser0207
9th Nov 2014, 10:45
What are you guys filling for employer detail on the ID1 form?

Speed_Alive_V1
11th Nov 2014, 14:57
Any word back about that bit?

Would hardly make sense to say your current occupation, maybe leave it blank see what they say there? What did other people do?

I take it some people are up soon, myself at the end of the week, best of luck to everyone, shine the shoes, keep a calm head and enjoy the process :)

EI-mech
11th Nov 2014, 15:31
The prospective employer is aer lingus, this is what you should put on the form. Wait for conformation from HR to be on the safe side, but it's the only thing that would make sense.

Officer Kite
13th Nov 2014, 08:23
E-mails for the unsuccessful are out, mixture of emotions as I'm happy I know for sure what happened but still upset about not getting through. I can confirm no feedback was given which only adds salt to the wounds but there you go.

Best of luck to everyone still in the process.

reeko
13th Nov 2014, 08:39
Until next year :*

13th Nov 2014, 08:43
250 euro and no feedback...ridiculous. A friend of mine went to an assessment centre (not aviation related), didn't pay a penny and got a phone call explaining why she didn't get through and what she needs to work on. How can you improve if you have no idea where you went wrong?

PPRuNeUser0207
13th Nov 2014, 09:45
Hard luck everybody I know the feeling all too well!

I went thought to the next interview and I'm waiting for a response now :ugh:

Speed_Alive_V1
13th Nov 2014, 09:58
How did it go Jumpseat?

To the others, I imagine you could ring FTE and ask them to send you a copy of your scores on the day. I know someone who did that last time.

PPRuNeUser0207
13th Nov 2014, 11:12
It went well, one or two tricky questions but nothing major.

I hoping I got myself across and hopefully they want me to work for them!

almon1298
13th Nov 2014, 11:23
Its very unsporting to not even offer pure data on our scores so we can make our own feedback. If we got a little copy and paste table of our pilapt scores it would be fairly straight forward to deduce that I should practice "hands" if I scored 10% on it or that I'm strong or competent on "flight director" because my score was say 88%. I understand they have a high workload and also want to protect themselves legally by not offering potentially misleading feedback but pure raw data is fair I think.

Officer Kite
13th Nov 2014, 12:23
That's true speed alive but my understanding is that stage 3 was done by FTE and they forwaded those successful to AL. The cabin crew assessments are being done by AL having no effect on FTE's ability to write a simple sentence such as "reason for decision: numerical reasoning" for example. There weren't that many at stage 3 and considering 255e was spent I think it's the least they should do. There may have been an issue on my day but I have no recollection of being told we wouldn't get feedback, I actually thought we would.

elmore81
13th Nov 2014, 12:49
Feedback is rarely offered in aviation, you'll need to get used to that.

Fergal10
13th Nov 2014, 13:19
FTE are a really nice bunch who are keen to offer help wherever possible. Unless things have changed from when I did an assessment with them recently, they will be more than happy to pull out your file and relay your scores if you call them up (despite them also saying no feedback will be given at the start of the process).

PPRuNeUser0207
13th Nov 2014, 22:11
Just to make it very clear about the next stage at AL.

No information should be released about this stage.

There is nothing you can prepare for except the interview. Best of luck :ok:

Speed_Alive_V1
17th Nov 2014, 09:08
All done and dusted now :ok:

Also, it is officially an MPL course now.

PPRuNeUser0207
17th Nov 2014, 11:28
When was your interview speed_alive and how many were in attendance.

MPL for sure, but also, any confirmation on how many cadets?

Gear_Up2014
17th Nov 2014, 12:47
Attended Wed -17 participants

Rumoured 12 spots similar to last year yet they took on 20, supposedly..

Next dates for psychological assessment, Nov 23rd to Dec 2nd, could someone confirm pls?

If above true that means notification must be provided this week..

Speed_Alive_V1
17th Nov 2014, 16:04
I won't mention specifics, Charlie is listening ;)

There were about the right amount at the assessment to make me think it was around the 40/50 mark overall...:ok:

I've heard 12, and heard 16 places. Definitely two classes however, one in Jan one in Feb, as was mentioned to me. I don't think they will be too tied down by numbers, whomever they pick will go.

I found the interview enjoyable, and surprisingly (albeit in a good way) quite technical. The panel were very friendly.

Whens everyones hunch at when we find out? Next stage in 2 weeks, so following the previous timeframe it might be this coming Friday?

PPRuNeUser0207
17th Nov 2014, 19:01
The number 20 got trown about a bit the Tuesday I was there.

They told me the 24th and are using this week to reflect on all the interviews.
GoodLuck to all!! :)

funkyt111
17th Nov 2014, 20:11
There were 12 applicants on my day, 17 on another? I struggle to understand how they could have invited only 40-50 to this stage or am I missing something?

I do wonder how many people Aer Lingus will choose for the cadet scheme in total....

PPRuNeUser0207
18th Nov 2014, 14:53
Sorry I didn't make my last reply clear. I meant that there was talk of taking 20 cadets into this programme. There were 12 candidates on Tuesday 11th.

funkyt111
18th Nov 2014, 15:15
Okay. So 12 on Monday, 12 on Tuesday and 17 on Wednesday? That's 41 already...

Jumpseat, if you don't mind me asking, where did you get 20 figure from?

Gear_Up2014
18th Nov 2014, 15:41
I am starting to come to the conclusion, that first of all, what FTE stated directly at the assessments, was that they would put forward 60/70 to EI, the number of 45 is from someone who talked to someone who knew something.....it is now transpiring that 60 to 70 as outlined is the correct figure.

Second of all, EI have stated that they anticipate to select 10-12 for the courses, this is direct from EI, however the number of 20 has been thrown around by candidates on assessment days as they heard something from someone who knows something, I have not heard categorically from EI on any of the assessment days that they will select 20...

From the dates provided by EI for psychological assessment, that amounts to 12 days, so basically if we want to further speculate that would equal a candidate a day for assessment in line with number of course participants which they stated....

I think everything that has been circulated is purely speculation, but I am open for correction.

EI-mech
18th Nov 2014, 19:12
I was told that there are two weekends set aside for psychological interviews. Where is the figure of 12 days coming from?

funkyt111
18th Nov 2014, 19:28
To be fair, in my interview I was told the same thing. Two weekends and that I'd have to be available for a Saturday.

In the first assessment, my group were told that they would be selecting more than 10 and less than 20 but by means did they get a definitive figure.

19th Nov 2014, 11:32
Anyone else heard back yet?

Hi Thowmas and Quiet, sorry just to clarify have you both heard your fate?

Thank you

No I haven't heard anything yet. Think I'll keep a positive outlook until Friday evening!

Speed_Alive_V1

Haven't heard anything yet either.

No signal in work, guess its that time again to check the voicemail every 30 seconds from now until Friday....:ok:

19th Nov 2014, 14:03
Good luck to everyone who has gotten this far. Hopefully I will be in your position in a few years time. :)

No word for me yet either guys...

Gear_Up2014
19th Nov 2014, 23:11
No word either guys..

Speed_Alive_V1
20th Nov 2014, 10:01
Anyone else yet? Anxious times...

Speed_Alive_V1
20th Nov 2014, 10:41
They probably called the UK guys first to allow them time to get flights organised.

Maybe they're still deliberating on the rest of us...

UCDflyer
20th Nov 2014, 11:33
Are the people who get through to this next stage guaranteed to get it if the psychologist is happy with them? Or is it another selection stage?

Speed_Alive_V1
20th Nov 2014, 11:37
Nothing is guaranteed until the training contract is signed, but it's a reasonably good sign.

They won't want to waste too much money putting people through it for assessment purposes, I would imagine..

PPRuNeUser0207
20th Nov 2014, 11:39
Don't forget about medicals!!

UCDflyer
20th Nov 2014, 11:45
I would of hoped people would of done medicals before getting this far. It would be heartbreaking to get this far and then not being able to continue because of a medical.

PPRuNeUser0207
20th Nov 2014, 11:54
I've had my class one since I was 18 :ok:

36000ft
20th Nov 2014, 12:29
So based on what we know, 2 people have been notified they were successful (obviously this depends on who uses PPRune)?

Quiet
20th Nov 2014, 14:09
Waiting to hear is so tough. No sign (on here anyway) of anyone being called today so all the calls could easily have been made yesterday. The uncertainty is a killer.

Speed_Alive_V1
20th Nov 2014, 14:15
Hopefully all calls haven't been made anyway.

The waiting is torturous.
Reckon they'll tell us if not or just we won't hear anything?

Quiet
20th Nov 2014, 15:07
I was told that we would be informed but not until contracts were all signed as there is still a chance of drop-out up to that point.

PPRuNeUser0207
20th Nov 2014, 16:02
That looks to be it for today anyway folks!

36000ft
22nd Nov 2014, 17:37
Any news guys? Still haven't heard anything but presuming it's all done :uhoh:

22nd Nov 2014, 17:39
Presuming the same. Very disappointed but always knew it was a long shot.

Officer Kite
22nd Nov 2014, 18:22
Chin up to anyone that didn't make it, anyone to have gotten to stage 3 or beyond did extremely well, take nothing away from it. This cadetship isn't what it used to be, the required standards have shot up like a rocket nowadays.

PPRuNeUser0207
22nd Nov 2014, 18:50
Until next year

Speed_Alive_V1
24th Nov 2014, 09:36
Unless they did the Jan class first, then call the Feb class a little while later?

Maybe that's just me being optimistic ;)

Love your style speed alive! Can only hope!

Gear_Up2014

haha brilliant Speed Alive, I was just thinking the same thing last night, but didn't want to be too optimistic, it could be plausible...

Just hold out until you get that rejection email

25th Nov 2014, 16:40
Never been so happy to receive a rejection e-mail! At least I can set my mind to purpose elsewhere now! :ok:

Congratulations to all those who did make it through, and for those who still have no news, I'd imagine you won't have to wait much longer. :D

I feel the same Gear Up. Nice to know we get no feedback and don't know what to improve on for next time.

Unfortunately that's life. We live in a litigious society and EU laws are such that if feedback was given and you disagreed then there would be grounds for action.

Your best bet would be to enrol yourself on the gapan assessment or find a professional aviation recruiter and seek out their guidance.

PPRuNeUser0207
