New Russian helicopter to fly twice as fast as conventional rotorcraft - English pravda.ru (http://english.pravda.ru/news/russia/11-08-2014/128254-russian_helicopter-0/#.U-vfWyxzZ6o)

'Cuse me but doesn't an increase in speed have something to do with m/r blades and not just 'new engines'?

Nah, all you need is a graphics artist, a model builder and a PR writer. :E

Sounds like the PSV (Perspectivny Skorostnoy Vertolyot, Advanced High-Speed Helicopter) program, funding for which was announced in May (http://www.themoscowtimes.com/article/500080.html). Commonly associated with Russian Helicopters' Russian Advanced Commercial Helicopter (RACHEL) (http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,16242.0.html) concept, which may or may not (http://www.flightglobal.com/news/articles/russian-helicopters-schedules-first-flight-of-high-speed-type-for-389642) draw on the previous Ka-92 and Mi-X1 proposals.

The PSV effort, launched in 2008 (http://www.pprune.org/rotorheads/326978-anybody-else-helirussia.html#post4116161), is 'only' targeting a cruise speed of 450 km/h (http://www.ainonline.com/aviation-news/ain-defense-perspective/2012-09-07/russian-helicopters-pursues-mi-817-replacement), so it's slow by the standards of Kamov's manic 700 km/h Ka-90 (http://www.secretprojects.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=4400.0) folding-rotor concept.

Can't help thinking that the Ka92 and Mi X1 look a bit like a EH101 and Bell 222 with go faster parts.

Must have been a bit of basic cut and paste in those graphic designs.

I can't help thinking that those images do look ( to me ),
a bit like they've come from "Toyski's 'rUski" :8
