Can anyone direct me to a Yorkshire based flight centre that offers trips to the dams in Yorkshire/South Yorkshire that was used for practice by the Dam Busters squadron.

I've been asked by a non aviation lady who would like to buy a trip over the dams as a surprise her husband for his birthday if I can suggest anywhere who does this sort of thing.

You could book a trial lesson, and ask to go over that way? I work at a flight school where this would be possible in a two or four seat aircraft, but we're based over near Selby/Goole area, so you'd have a fair transit time to get down that way. Netherthorpe may be worth a look as they're probably closest to Ladybower and that neck of the woods.
I don't know of any schools who offer a Dambuster experience per se, but most that offer trial flights should be able to take you out over that way.

I'm sure either of the flying clubs at Netherthorpe would oblige.

There'e also Blue Eye Aviation (http://www.blueeyeaviation.co.uk/) who specialise in Tiger Moth flights over the dams from Netherthorpe.

617 Sqn flew over the dams with four engines. I'd prefer at least two. Tbh, there's not much choice of a dry forced landing area if a single vintage engine powered prop stops in that valley.

I did it from Sandtoft in a PA28 arrow in an hours round trip.

Give sherburn aero club a ring, book a flight experience and ask for a flight to the lady bower reservoir.

Was it just one dam used by 617sqn for practice or more than one ?

I understand 617 previously used one other dam in either Leicestershire or Northamptonshire before Ladybower.
