If anyone is being put off converting their old UK JAA Licence to a new EASA one because their type rating has expired by more than 3 years read on....
My 737 Type rating expired in 2009 and at the end of last year 2013, on returning to the UK from abroad I was told by everyone I consulted i needed a full type rating to renew it. :ugh: NOT SO, instead of the circa 25k you need for the full type rating I paid around £4500 and got a new EASA Licence with the 737 type on it. It took an awful lot of work and a big gamble on my behalf but it is possible, despite what you will initially be told.
