Hello everybody,
In Boing family the priorities of the checklists are crystal clear:
Emergency (eng fire, fail...)
Normal
Abnormal ( flaps, slats...)

So, if you had a flap problem during take off, you continue the normal checklist, gear up, flaps (lever) up with the limitation of speed, in order not to break them and then you start with the abnormal checklist.
In Airbus, you will have an ECAM warning, ex: flaps fault.
Will you stop and go through the ECAM or you will continue with the retraction of the surfaces (slats), speed pull in order not to break the flaps, until the flap lever is at 0 and then you go ahead with the ECAM?

At our airline we have the following general guideline that applies to all aircraft. That's Boeing, Airbus and Embraer.

1. PF - Maintain Aircraft Control
2. Identify the Non-normal
PM Cancel the Warning
3. Accomplish Immediate Action Items
5. Accomplish the Checklist
4. Captain Assigns PF

A flap fault would not likely be an immediate action or memory item. Further explanation of the above policy, outlined in our Flight Operations Manual, would require getting the aircraft to a safe altitude, determine if it is an immediate action item or memory item. Captain assigns the pilot to be flying and then the flying pilot calls "ECAM ACTION". That is the signal to start the ECAM process.

If the ECAM is an immediate or memory item then it is dealt with by "immedate action of the ECAM" or by memory - ie electrical fire. The ECAM for fire can take many different forms and so there is a non ECAM memory list to back up the ECAM system.

My opinion is that if you have an emergency ECAM checklist, A Continuous Repetitive Chime (CRC) indicates a Level 3 failure which requires an immediate action, the sequence of this checklists are:
Emergency, stop the normal retraction of the flaps after TO for ex and secure the engine.
After that stop at Status and do any normal checklist, computer resets, temporary revisions.
If during TO, for ex, you have a Single Chime (SC) indicates a Level 2 failure, continue with the Normal acceleration, retraction of the flaps and after with the ECAM actions.
If there is something in the FCTM or in the FCOMs that I have been missing, please don't hesitate to bring it frd.
