Apparently Neil perry's pony tail fell out of the first class galley and subsequently was sucked into the engine. The engine choked in disgust.

I don't like the way QF always , without fail, say that there was no impact on safety when they have an event like this. If they believe that then they don't understand safety. I might agree with them that the flight was still relatively safe, but it certainly wasn't as safe as it was before the engine failed, ergo there was an impact on the safety of the flight. It's no great secret, just tell it like it is.

framer, what would you have them do? Sackcloth and ashes? They got an indication and they terminated the flight. What's the safety differential - about 0.001% or something?

Maybe more breathless hyperbole is what you want to see "QANTAS flight in danger of plummeting from the skies" or somesuch...

One engine indicated a problem.

Competent, professional pilots decided to turn back.

Uneventful landing.

End of story.

Nothing to see here, please move along..........
