BBC Radio 5 Live has also given a News Flash around 3.17pm reporting an aircraft has crashed in to the sea en route to or from the Canary Islands. No further details of any kind as yet.

It is not a plane crash. Apparently a vessel in some kind of distress. Thanks God!

Sky now saying its actually a vessel of some sort-not an aircraft.
Crazy reporting practice to release this sort of info before any facts known?
Must have been seriously worrying for anyone having family/crew heading that way!

Idiot reporters, rushing to be the first to break the news, without checking any facts :ugh:

Idiot reporters? Quite a ridiculous thing to say on a thread which is doing exactly the same.

Make that two threads: One saying "aircraft down", the other saying "crash".

What's that about rushing to break news before checking facts? Jeez.

Ship Mistaken For Plane Crash In Gran Canaria

Emergency services have mistaken a shipping vessel for a plane crash near Gran Canaria, it has emerged.

More follows... So a false alarm telling us only that some journalists do not know the difference between a plane and a ship. It is of course possible there may turn out to be a news event of some kind involving a ship off the coast of Gran Canaria........

EDIT:- BBC Radio 5 Live now also confirming at 3.30pm that "Spanish emergency services staff mistook a ship in the sea for an aeroplane":ugh:

I agree. Journalists and 24hr TV news are in such a frenzy to break a story first that they end up reporting complete rubbish!!
Thank god it was a false alarm

Not really, they seem to have picked-up on a report from the Canary Emergency Services.
What do they need to do? Charter a flight out there for a visual inspection before passing on? Some are criticizing withheld information, others saying info should be held until 100% confirmed.
On that basis, MH370 is nothing more than just "Missing"

In times like these it would be wise to confirm any news of this type before posting them to the forum as many non-professionals come to this site for information and updates.

Excuse me, but I don't know if anybody have asked this before: What was in the cargo hold of this aircraft that did not crash?

It's not as if they're any different to the dozen or so people who have all repeated the same "it's not a plane, it's a ship" revelation in the previous posts...

Correction - 37 years....

There is a boat out where it did not crash, so the pilots probably did not land on the sea and steal the two tons of gold that was not on board.
