Log book entries

I'm currently training in a Eurostar towards my pilots license, but have in the past done some gliding (back in 2010). When I started training earlier this year I purchased a pilots log book and have been making my entries in it, but all my previous glider training is in a BGA gliding log book. I've summarised this and entered at the front of my new logbook.

My question is this. I was bought a winch launch gliding lesson as a gift for Christmas which I intend to take in the summer (when I might actually get to stay aloft for more than 5 mins..). When I do take the flight, do I enter the flight details in my new (current) logbook or my original BGA gliding logbook? I assume one should only be making entries in one log book at any one time?

Doesn't matter. Indeed you could just, say change the multi-engine column heading to gliding and keep both going in the same book quite legitimately. There is not much restriction, really, on how you must or may complete your PERSONAL logbook.

Thanks for the reply Ghengis, I just wanted to ensure I didn't mess up the official record of my flying experience :-)

Won't be gliding till the summer anyway, but thought I'd ask the question now.

Might be worth keeping them seperate for the time being, while you are doing your training, so that you dont confuse the CAA when you apply for the licence.;)

Yes good idea, I'll just use my BGA logbook and then there will be no confusion... maybe I'll get the gliding bug again.....

EASA recommend you keep them separate - but it isn't a requirement to do so.
EASA say you "should" use the format specified on page 16 of this pdf: http://easa.europa.eu/agency-measures/docs/agency-decisions/2011/2011-016-R/AMC%20and%20GM%20to%20Part-FCL.pdf

but it doesn't say that you "must" do it.

I'm current on 3 aircraft classes with a few others in my well spent youth. Multiple columns and totals have so far worked fine. A commercial logbook is good because it has more columns to use, but for no other reason really. Easy enough to make up stickers to change column headings.
