seems serco is advertising yet again for Erbil in northern Iraq.

Would someone please mind forwarding the current T&Cs please. thanks.

Whats the go there, are they having trouble keeping staff OR is it the T&Cs that are the problem thus peeps leave?

There isn't really an inherent problem with the T&Cs at Erbil. First, several people who have put their time in (a long time, in fact) have recently decided it's time to return home. Second, of course some people arrive in places like this and have underestimated the cultural differences from home (wherever that might be) or just plain miss home more than they thought they would. Others adapt and thrive in a place like Erbil (which is not a bad place to be; certainly not at all like most people's current impression of Iraq in general).

So, in short, the turnover rate in Erbil is not higher than other similar posts, nor higher than anticipated.

Cheers,
Grizz

There is not a lot of turn-over in Erbil. The reason the job keeps coming up has to do more with the operations aspect than anything. It is pretty complicated, but basically until just now, there were no radar operations here. An LOA has been signed with all parties that will allow that to occur, and beginning in a week or so, they will commence.

Only three people have left since Dec 1. One for personal reasons, one went home because his time in the Middle East had run it's course (and he was ready to spend his retirement years on his deck), and one left for another Serco contract. Two of those were replaced very quickly. I heard we will be losing one more to retirement, so that makes two openings right now.

Everyone else here is probably here for a while, and it is a great group of folks from around the world. I won't go into details here about the T & C's, but they pay is commensurate with the area, and life in Erbil is actually quite nice. Granted it is no Dubai or Abu Dhabi, but it is also not as bad as Baghdad or Kabul.

Travel is great from here, albeit a little expensive. But all the major airlines of this side of the world fly in here (THY, EKY, ETD, QTR, DLH, AUS, RJA, MSR, etc...).

Yep..Everyone bar the people already leaving were given 3 months notice from early September.EIA weren't renewing the contract for whatever reason.Serco tried to get a reduced contract but nothing happened so everyone is back home looking for jobs,or putting feet up.
They did have to evacuate as IS/ISIS/ISIL were getting close, and an attack on Erbil was possible. The Air Strikes changed that.
Great bunch of people there and it's sad it all ended. There was great potential in the radar project but it all fell to bits.:hmm:
