Whereabouts are you staying?
Renton is not a bad place to fly from, I did my faa ppl check ride there at Acuwings. Boeing Field is also an option. There are other places like Auburn and Bellingham that I havent tried but look good.
Its a great part of the world to fly, but expect uk type weather this time of year.
Also worth considering vancouver, either for flying or as a destination.
If intending to cross the border by GA note that you cant use esta on arrival, you need a b1 visa in your passport, or I believe that you can use esta if you already have a valid entry stamp, so plan on starting any cross border flights in the usa and get advice
