ICAO to JAA/EASA

Hi Guys

Have a mate of mine where he's son has a frozen ATPL and a CPL/IR license with a 737 rating. Issued by an ICAO state authority in Asia. Now they want to convert the license to a European license.
Basically this popped up over drinks and I wasn't able to explain the complete process.
can anyone help with this de boggle, not sure what's the process to have hes license converted. especially if Europe will except the frozen ATPL examinations already done..

Very simply, your mate's son will have to do a medical, 14 exams and a skills test on the 737 (assuming he has 500 hours on it). Although - if he holds a CPL - then there may be other bits and pieces required. Your son's mate is much better off if he can get his ATPL before trying to convert. A lot easier!!

Assuming your son's mate is planning to do it in the UK then he should visit the UK CAA's website for the details.
Medical - doesn't have to do the full monty.
Exams - 14. Theory prior - best go to Bristol Ground School.
