Seems unbelievable that this could happen, anyone know more?

The runway was inspected around 3 am, after that fog closed in, the burnt wreckage of the Cessna was not found until 9 next morning.

So far it is a mystery. Such a flight would have taken 4 hours.

NTSB looks at 7-hour window in Nashville plane crash probe - CNN.com (http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/30/us/nashville-plane-crash-mystery/index.html?hpt=hp_t2)

The FAA says the tower was properly staffed. Radar/Transponder/ELT? No communications from pilot, pilot did not have an IFR rating and probably should not have taken off in the first place. Strange.

Already posted at 1604 and in the 'Canada' section of Pprune, which names the pilot, and adds that his name is the same as that of a person facing pornography charges in Canada with a past conviction for bank robbery.
