Hello there,

Just a quick question regarding the B737 Classic in particular -400.

In regards to an OFF SCHED DESCENT light, if you press the FLT ALT knob (push it in) will this light go out?

I know when it happens to us in the SIM, we simply put the mode to STBY and it goes out.

I was going to try it out the other day, on a flight to cause an OFF SCHED DESCENT light but the Captain would not allow it. so thought Id ask here.

The analog pressurisation controller panel does have a push to reset function on the flight altitude selector and if it's pushed during the climb, or if the selected altitude is never reached, it cancels the return to departure airfield function of the 'OFF SCHED DESCENT'. This isn't available on the digital controller.

Is it not your company's SOP to action the QRH for an orange light such as 'OFF SCHED DESCENT'? If it is, then look at it and match it up with the technical knowledge in the vol II. What does the QRH say? Switching to standby in the sim is poor practice since the protection of automatic pressurisation control is removed.

Thanks for response - yes Company SOP refers QRH

RE: switching to STBY in Sim, this is the reason I was interested in the reset button on the FLT ALT switch, as I also don't like to see it switched to STBY mode either. at least now I can use this instead.
