I'm seeing unconfirmed reports around the web that the 97 year old Wg.Cdr Ken Wallis died on Sunday.

Very sad if he has died, but at the end of an incredibly impressive - not to mention long - aeronautical life. But does anybody know if this is true from any reliable source.

Flying Lawyer has posted same news on AH&N.

What a wonderful life he led.

Report here:
Wing Commander Ken Wallis dies at the age of 97 - Post your tributes - News - Eastern Daily Press (http://www.edp24.co.uk/news/wing_commander_ken_wallis_dies_at_the_age_of_97_post_your_tr ibutes_1_2365526)

Terribly sad news. I had the pleasure of visiting Reymerston Hall several years ago, as part of a group, and despite being a bitterly cold March day, he happily spent some 2 hours chatting to all of us, and answering an array of questions. He then said "I suppose you want to see one of them flying?". No guesses what the answer was! He donned a flimsy flying suit and helmet, pulled Little Nellie out of the hanger, and proceeded to do circuits of his "garden". I left, suitably humbled by this charming, unassuming gentleman.

RIP Ken
