I have an EASA PPL(A) gained in Feb 2013 and I'm wanting to add an IMC rating.
However, reading this (http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/2330/Revised%20Statement%20UK%20IMC%20RATING%20May%202012%20_v3.p df) seems to indicate that you can only add the IMC to a non EASA licence, and thus only use it in a non EASA aircraft.

I was rather hoping to complete the IMC course before April 2014 and then add it to my EASA licence as an IR(R) where it could stay forever.

Can anyone help me on this one, as it's pretty confusing!

There is a substantial amount on this on another forum, which you may wish to look at.
