Nathan Outlaw at Rock (Cornwall) walking distance from Roserrow airstrip.

Also Paul Ainsworth in Padstow walk from Roserrow then 5-min ferry ride from Rock or a £20 taxi ride from Newquay airport. Both Michelin starred.

Cheltenham is 5 mins in a taxi from Staverton. Le Champignon Sauvage is rather nice and does a good value lunch if you can get a booking. The Petit Blanc is also good value and has the added bonus of some reasonable shopping nearby.

Very interesting.
I tried to glean this kind of information from t'other side and got very few responses.
Does that mean that Pruners are posher?:)
(or should that be, "more posh"?)

Langar Hall in Notts. is very nice and close to Langar airfield.

You need to check PPR requirements and parachuting ops.

Here's a slightly offbeam suggestion. Why not....... fly into Prestwick Flight Centre, then take a seaplane lesson which could end up at one of many possible smashing eateries ...... Space in the back for Mrs NB if required.

I stumbled across this place yesterday whilst out for a drive with Mrs Stick.

Restaurant & Head Chef Georges Delorme - The Beetle & Wedge Boathouse Restaurant (http://www.beetleandwedge.co.uk/restaurant.htm)

As it turns out it's only 1.5 miles from Chiltern Park so should make a nice day out.

Stickandrudderman,

You planning to swim the Thames, or are they going to row you over?

Since the road is called "Ferry Lane" I assumed that there was a ferry? Is that not the case? I would be very surprised if the restaurant owners didn't have some facility for getting across the river, especially since they rent boats but I admit that I didn't verify it. A simple phone call would reveal the answer.

There isn't a ferry! The name is presumably from many years ago....

The closest road crossings are at Goring to the south and just before Wallingford to the north. Neither of them are very far from the airfield, although it'd be quite a long walk...a taxi would be the best bet!

7120 i have been to both.

Wouldnt leuchars or dundee be better options?

That said never been to kingsmuir, where is it?

The peat inn is ok, but not really exceptional, the seafood resteraunt is almost there but can be let down by the staff. Magical location helps.

Kingsmuir Airfield (http://ukga.com/airfield/kingsmuir)

Well kept grass strip, closer than Leuchars or Dundee and cheaper!! Taxi from St. Andrews will pick you up. Scotland's Secret Bunker is less than a mile away and worth a visit.

Back to food: a short taxi ride, is Sangsters in Elie:

Sangster's Famous Restaurant in Elie - Home (http://www.sangsters.co.uk)

As an alternative try award winning fish and chips overlooking quaint Anstruther harbour:

The Famous Award Winning Anstruther Fish Bar (http://www.anstrutherfishbar.co.uk)

If you fly into Goodwood there are a few a short taxi ride away - this one is set in the downs and is very nice with Jaccusis for each room, setting is gorgeous and the food is good as well.

back to the North -
Loch Leven Shelfish restuarant on shore of Loch Leven ideal for the seaplane lesson! It is superb and I've eaten in a few Michelin star places, good old Oban go to seafood temple, it's superb but avoid Eusk - they've gone over to frozen fish and standard has plummeted.
