I heard that with an FAA PPL(A) IR(A), you may fly gliders in instrument conditions (and without medical).

Can anybody give more information on this?

FAR 61.57(c)(6) sets out the requirements for being PIC in a glider under IFR.

Great, thanks for the pointer.

Where are the IFR equipment requirements defined gliders? FAR 91.205 seems only valid for powered aircraft.

By the way, what's the practical importance of glider flying in IMC in the USA? I've only heard of very few people doing cloud flying, especially in the UK (surprise! :).
