Mate wants to get his daughter a drop for her birthday. Anyone know the local clubs and is it expensive? Will she have to tandem or can she single?

Thanks in advance.

You are looking at Lanagar or Sibson or going up to Hibaldstow. You can go further down to Hinton. After that its a bit if a trog to the next ones. I can highly recommend Hibaldstow.

+1 for Hibalstow, did a tandem from there for my 18th, highly recommended, despite one of the instructors persisting to drop his guts every couple of minutes in the climb :oh:

Thanks chaps, he has just looked at the prices and blenched. He paid for his son to do it in Australia but didn't expect it to be three times the price here. Thanks anyway.

I flew my brother to leicester tuesday and he mentioned he would like to give it a go.... I don't suppose anyone here can give me a rough price now I've stumbled across this thread?
I guess it would have to be a tandem dive as he hasn't got a clue.. Was thinking of buying him it as a birthday gift
Thanks in advance

It would have to be tandem unless he plans on doing the full skydiving course?

Quick look on Hibaldstow's website here (http://www.skydiving.co.uk/tandem.htm) gives these figures for a Tandem jump

Anytime Mon - Fri
1 or 2 people £ 240 £ 200
3 or 4 people £ 225 £ 200
5 to 9 people £ 210 £ 190
10+ people £ 195 £ 185
30+ people £ 190 £ 185
50+ people £ 185 £ 185
NUS cardholders £ 225 £ 225

When physics and biology collide. :)

I think you'll find everyone does this on the climb to altitude - although I accept some instructors can have a bit more of a "laissez faire" approach.

It even happens on commercial airliners on the climb to the pressure altitude. I'm told some cabin crew "alleviate" the condition by walking up and down the aisles in a purposeful manner while the seat belt signs are still on for the passengers. They call it "seeding".

They call it "seeding".

I think "soiling" would have been an appropriate term to describe this instructor's approach to de-pressurizing himself.

The Parachute club here at Chatteris does Tandems for £165 on a Wednesday, but they get booked up a few weeks in advance: Tandem Skydiving | Parachuting | Skydive North London (http://www.ukskydiving.com/tandem.php)
