Airfield fly-ins 2013

Having received my licence from the CAA through the post yesterday, I am planning a good few flights over the summer months and want to get out there and experience different airfields.

Inspired by my home airfield (Barton / City Airport Manchester) having a fly-in day this weekend with free landings and organised activities for visiting pilots, I thought I would ask the question on PPRUNE if anyone knows of other airfields having similar events over the summer? It does not need to be North West based but if we can keep it to the UK only for now.

I am sure there will be quite a few so if you know of one then please reply with all relevant details (airfield, dates, free landings / not, link to airfield website, any other info). I will keep a log updated and repost it for everyone to share.

East Staffordshire Flying Club are hosting their charity fly-in on Saturday 20th July at Tatenhill.

There will be 3 Aerobatic displays as well as other activities going on during the day.

Landing fees have been waived in place of a donation to the Midlands Air Ambulance, which is based at Tatenhill.

As a member of ESFC, I try to go every year, as it's a really enjoyable day.

LAA East of Scotland strut rally 17-18 August. Kingsmuir airstrip (East Fife near Crail) 620metre grass. Smooth grass.

Shobdon Airfield are having a fly-in Shakespeare performance on Wednesday 24th July. Reduced landing fees, free overnight camping, some mobile home on-site accommodation available. Ticket price includes strawberries and cream and a glass of bubbly or soft drink. Adults £8 under 18's £6. Performance starts at 19.30.

Summer fly in 20/21 July free landings. Hog roast & camping available & band on in the evening of 20th.

Also Saturday 10th August free landings. BBQ on the day with lots of activities.
