Friends in the abode of peace inform me that a Rishworth F/O has been sacked for going (genuinely) sick down route. Reason for sacking given as more sick leave required than is allowed for in the Rishworth contract.

Could anyone in the abode please give more details.

Now here is a scenario for you.

Rishworth First Officer is 9 days into his allowed 10 days of sick leave. Precedent has been established that he will be sacked if he continues with his sick leave. You are the captain of a flight about to report for duty. Rishworth First Officer turns up, looking like s@it but begging you to let him operate as he has declared himself fit and is terrified of losing his job.

What would you do?

Sacking AM was an option in the contract, not mandatory. It has totally destroyed what was left of any goodwill and potentially lowered the flight safety record of your airline.

Nice one RBA. :(
