Hi all. I've been asked to produce training material for type ratings and recurrent training. The material will be in the form of editable presentations and will initially cover all aircraft systems to start with. How would you decide the price for such work?

Any idea of current market rates for a similar item? Otherwise an hourly rate with an estimate of time required.

I thought about looking for market rates for similar items, but I couldn't find any similar items really. Thanks anyhow.

Here's a tip; think about producing your work in Articulate Studio 9, easy for anyone with an understanding of Powerpoint.

It would infinitely greater value for your client than a simple Powerpoint presentation. And for you.

As a rule of thumb I was advised to allow 100 hours of work to produce 1 hour of concentrated self-study material, say around 50 slides with interactions , images, graphics, animations and so on to make it interesting. Ridiculous, I thought, until I actually did it.

Only you will know (a) your client's budget, so that you can ask for 110% of that, and (b) what you think you are worth per hour (ask for 50% of that).

I'm happy to be contacted re Articulate and why I think it's worth a look. PM if you like.
