I'm flying a C150 from 1975, and I wouldn't be terribly surprised if the VHF radio is the original from the factory.

I was preparing to start at Southend (EGMC) and the ATIS frequency listed as 136.50... However my radio selector dial only goes up to 135! If there are Vhf freqs in use that my radio cannot tune, I'm very surprised I hadn't run into it before.

Any thoughts? Has my pooleys got a typo or did some numbers fall off my radio??

I'll bet you have a King KX170B Nav Com. 118.00 to 135.975 MHz. 720 channels.

Around 1990 the frequency band for coms was extended to 136.975 MHz. 760 channels.

I think there are mods available.

If you have to get a new VHF comm set, be careful. Fairly soon there is going to be a requirement on UK GA aircraft to have sets with 8.33 kHz freq spacing. Your current set will have either 50 kHz or maybe 25 kHz - I don't remember when that change came in.
