A typical aerial bulge for SAT comm service.

Might also be SAT TV.

Virgin Blue have the same blister. They show live TV onboard.

None correct. It is the dunny for the negative-G case.

Specifically, it's the Iridium satcom sytem which uses orbiting medium altitude sattelites. If you use the satphone (at great cost) that would be the INMARST system which uses geostationary sattelites. The flight deck satcoms also use the latter and if fitted, will have another flatter aerial.

Actually it's not free no... they claim it is, but it's actually included in the fare you pay. So all pax are actually paying for it. Fast becoming the RYR of Scandinavia.. and not meant in a good way
