After much gnashing of teeth, biting of fingernails and some swearing I have moved PPRuNe to a significantly more powerful server.

Given the current rate of growth we shouldn't have to move to new hardware for at least 12-18 months.... but I remember saying just that about 10 months ago!

Was I lucky enough to be one of the first to log into the new server, or are some people unable to find it? The new URL appears to be changed from http://www.pprune.org to http://pprune.org. The old URL yields a 404 error.

Pinging pprune.org and www.pprune.org gave different IP addresses.... who forgot to update all the DNS records?

I always use www.PPRuNe.com and I seemed to pick it up OK when it came online.

Fully in agreement with Flat Spin.
I had a major nervous wobbly when the error message occurred this morning.
Thanks to all who keep this site going.

Bloody marvelous guys, thanks for all the hard work.

Would now be an opportuine time for you to remind us how we can contribute towards the running of this most essential part of the internet

Good to see you back. I didn't adjust anything at this end.

Also good to see the site is working at the same speed as it was (and I mean before all this started).

That's IT for you - massive expenditure and huge human effort to leave us where we were before. ;) ;) ;)

Just like to add my thanks to all at PPHQ for their efforts. In Particular PPrune Dispatcher who burnt lots of midnight candles over this and even sacrificed his 21st (OK 22nd) birthday for it.

PS BA Forum first up and 20 in so far!!

Just been called off standby to operate the LGW-GLA so there'll be a short lull in admissions, boys and girls, till tomorrow am. Might just try that ACARS admission patch on the flight though...........

Very many thanks to all at the Towers for a seamless transition. Well - seamless form the user's point of view, at least! No doubt there was a lot of time and trouble expended - and much crossing of fingers - during the down time!

Good work! Bravo!

Without going too far into the dodgy topic of 'space available' (for fliers) in Heaven, I'd suggest that the odds have increased for all who work to sustain and enhance Pprune.

www.pprune.ORG (www.pprune.org) is what you should have. The .com only redirects you to the .org address.
