Airline Engineers in destination airports

Now and then you hear that an aircraft flys to a destination but misses return leg due to a technical issue.

Do airlines (lets take BA or KLM) for example who fly to hundereds of locations all over the world, (some more remote than others) have dedicated engineers at every airport for this eventuallity, or do they have approved or accredited engineers in each airport that can work on their aircraft ?? or how is this covered.
No real reason for the question, just often wondered

It is like you said. At some destinations the airlines do have their own engineers on hand, at others they have contracts with other airlines/maintenance providers to do the work in case the aircraft needs it.

E.g. Lufthansa has engineers based in NRT, and those also work on Emirates aircraft. In NBO e.g. the work needed on LH Cargo aircraft is done by a KLM engineer.

The tricky part is often not the certified engineer, but getting the needed spare part.
