Hi Folks

I currently hold a UK CAA CPL/IR. The IR laspsed in Oct 2001. I'm about to go and work in Zambia. My new employer will put me through a Zambian IR.

When I come back to the UK, will my UK IR need renewing just the same as if I never had a Zambian IR, or are there any dispensations.

I know I should ask the CAA/JAA, but I though I'd pop the question while I was here.

Thanks

JF

Until Oct 2006 you will just need to fly a renewal with any CRE/IRR in the form of a Licensing Proficiency Check / IR. After 5 years' lapse you would normally have to do an initial IR with a CAA Examiner. After 7 years you may have to take ground exams and do training. You may get a dispensation to avoid the CAA Examiner on the strength of holding the Zambian IR but you'll certainly need to ask the CAA.
