Hi guys,

I realise this thread has been covered before in private flying etc, but I have just bought a brand new ipad4 and am wondering which is the best nav program to have for airline flying as oppose to GA. Still interested in VFR points/geographic points/cities etc but would also like to display taxi charts/plates/enroute IFR charts with the aircraft displayed on it.

I can't afford the excellent Jepp app before you say.

I've narrowed it to three programs:
Runway HD
Air Nav pro
Sky demon

Are there anymore? Which is the best for the job?

Also I'm alittle confused with all the apps around for aviation. Are there any great ones out there?

Thanks (I'm a little backwards when it comes to computers!)

None, unless of course it's approved by your airline and regulatory authority :)

If that's the case, then it has to be the excellent and cheap Jeppesen.

On a more serious note, if your company supplies you with aeronautical charts, ie jeppesen or lido etc, and you are involved in an taxi incident whilst using your own copy of Runway HD, Air Nav pro, Sky demon. Who will accept liability?

Thanks for your reply. As PIC it would be myself. However its only going to be used for reference use only.

The LIDO app works quite nicely as well, access is given through the company if they have a contract for it.

Otherwise, why not just use the provided EFB mapping system?
