Hi!
I tried to look up both Abu Dhabi APP and Dubai TWR but can't find any vacancies except that they are looking for native ATCO trainees at Air Traffic Control Careers (http://www.atccareers.com).

Anyone knows who to contact or where to look for licensed ATCO jobs? Does Serco have all the contracts down there (except for the Abu Dhabi contract that is being decided right now) or are there more ANSP to choose from?

Dubai is not the 3rd but the 13th busiest airport in the world in terms of passengers. In terms of movements it is nowhere in sight in any of the top busiest airports lists. I heard that recruiting will be done for tower in the first six months and radar late this year. It's not the happiest place to work in at the moment just in case you are considering a move. Good luck.

Falcon.

I think you'll find it's 3rd busiest for INTERNATIONAL passengers.

Abu Dhabi is undergoing ATC supplier contract issues at the moment so some instability ongoing there until possibly the end of March.

Red Dragon - in terms of international passengers DXB is 4th. Check below. If you have other sources to confirm its third I would be interested to know even though its just figures. I do however think that when you really want to see how much an airport is busy for the guys on the coal face its really up to movements and most of all complexity the latter is where DXB is really champion. Cheers :O

I believe the anticipation is that DXB will jump to the number 3 spot when the final 2012 figures come out. Agree with all you say regarding workload though. Passenger figures mean far more to airports than ATCOs.

:ok:

RD / Falcon - "not getting" something about this - according to the airport's statistics, we're currently pushing some 29000+ movements per month which, given that the quoted figures were for the end of October, would put DXB in around 10th position for movements.

Or am I missing something?......

Yes, you are missing something. 10th? More like 29th, and that's on 2010 figures...World's busiest airports by aircraft movements - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World%27s_busiest_airports_by_aircraft_movements#2011_Prelim inary_Statistics)

Guy,

Pretty sure this started out as a debate about passengers, not aircraft movements. Specifically it's a ranking based on INTERNATIONAL passengers that DA are focusing on right now i.e. 4th becoming 3rd sounds better.

Stylo,

You're right that was a bit of thread creep, so apologies to the OP. You can blame those that just didn't understand!!

To answer the original question -

Doha - Don't know

Dubai Tower - yes, in the near future

Dubai Approach - maybe

DWC Tower - No.

Ah, no problem glad you could help.

Any ideas about Abu Dhabi?

For what it is worth, 2012 Dubai had just shy of 340000 movements to/from the ACC. Some local flights to add as well. Same guy catching DW, DM, RAK and SJ on 124.9 as well from all sides.

Edit. I just looked and it is 515000 movements in 2012 on one app, one director and two deps freqs. Seems legit.

Stylo,

I think the AD situation will becoming clearer over the next few months, given their contract renewal. It's either Serco or GAL and word has it that it's GAL that has won (see other thread on this forum). If that's the case then I'd expect a reducing demand for experienced new-hire expats given their promises on Nationalisation.

If I can uncharacteristically stick to the topic for a minute, Doha definitely needs controllers. However Flight International doesn't offer free advertising so you'll likely not hear about it there. As well, Doha doesn't have the same determined approach to manning (or womanning) the positions like the other units around it so it may take a while.

However, the new airport is supposed to be operational in April so perhaps the QCAA will prove me wrong and supersize their package and be more ambitious in their hiring practices over the next few months. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Now back to my thread hijacking, what does the 'BA' stand for?
