I struggled to find an appropriate section for this, so apologies if I have it wrong.

The UK CAA are currently reissuing some EASA licences to include a 'LV' annotation against some commercial ratings, shown under the "remarks and restrictions" column & also against the rating itself. e.g: B748/IR/LV.

Not knowing what the LV meant, I consulted CAP.804 and found squat. Google, nor the CAA could come up with the answer so I resorted to phoning.

Turns out, the LV remark stands for "Low Visability". Meaning your rating is valid for Low Viz ops... simple when you know how!

I'm posting this to make it easier for colleagues to find the answer.

Are you LVP qualified?
If you were, and was flying LVP's then you was doing it illegally from an EASA point of view.

NB: It may be different for Irish license holders.
