Farewell to another "Good Guy".

Sad to report the loss in mid-December of Jim Carpenter, ex-"A" Watch LATCC North Bank ATCO2.

Jim's attitude to life seemed to be " Do your job well, go home happy and live to fight another day".

Jim took early retirement to look after his ailing mother, to whom he was devoted. Jim's mother died about a year ago, and seemingly, Jim's "raison d'etre" died with her.

Jim's funeral, at very short notice to many, was well attended by ATC colleagues from across the UK. A good mustering of old comrades, to whom Jim was a good friend and workmate.

The man was a legend in my book.
Kept us amused with his sharp, quick-witted one liners every single day.

The best was when MMD007 checked in on the Lakes frequency;

Pilot "Hi London this is Mermaid 007 routing to Honiley maintaining FL350"

Jim "Ah 007, I have been expecting you!"
