As Brighton Shoreham Airport (or Brighton Airport Shoreham, depending on which way round you read the logo).

Not strictly a rebrand - when I was flying ESH-ACI a few years ago it was always known as Brighton-City by Blue Islands and on the terminal building.

How was it always known as "Brighton-City" when Brighton only became a city in the year 2000?

It wasn't always known as that, only in recent years.
