Is there anything new in the standard doc regarding refresher training.

I spoke yesterday to one of the licensing people by phone in gatwick asking what I need to do for a refresher on 737 rating expired by more than 6 years.

She initialy told me that I needed to do an initial. I answered her that I had an ATO willing to perform a refresher training with 6H of sim as PF + the LST. She answered then it need to be accepted by the examiner doing the LST.

I am an TRE on a different type but I have never seen any paper or standard doc explaining to me what is a valid refresher training or what is not.

It's the first time i called the CAA and they were not able to answer me with an answer making sense.....

From AMC to Part FCL.740 Validity and renewal of class and type ratings:

(iv) expiry longer than 3 years: the applicant should again undergo the training required for the initial issue of the rating or, in case of helicopter, the training required for the ‘additional type issue’,
according to other valid ratings held.

The CAA seem to take that literally, but many ATO's are using the paragraph before to make it "training as required" - normally a lot less!
